Begin with one clear goal
Decide what should happen after a customer scans. The goal might be viewing a menu, booking an appointment, joining a mailing list, downloading a guide, leaving feedback or opening a product page. One code should normally have one primary purpose.
Avoid sending every scan to the homepage. A focused landing page reduces confusion and gives the visitor an obvious next step.
Prepare the destination
Open the destination on a phone before creating the code. Check its loading speed, headline, buttons, forms and contact information. Remove unnecessary pop-ups and make sure the visitor does not need to pinch or zoom.
Add UTM parameters if you want the visit identified in an analytics platform. Use consistent lowercase names such as utm_source=store_sign, utm_medium=qr and utm_campaign=fall_open_house. Then use the complete tagged address as the destination.
Create and customize the code
Choose a dynamic QR code if the destination might change or if you need scan reporting. Select colors with strong contrast, keep the background simple and use a logo only when it does not interfere with scanning.
JujuBots lets you create a managed QR code, choose supported styles and review activity. Give the code an internal name that explains its placement, such as front_desk_review_card, rather than a vague name such as QR 1.
Add a meaningful call to action
People are more likely to scan when they know what they will receive. Place a short instruction near the code:
Scan to view today's menu
Scan to book an appointment
Scan for product instructions
Scan to join the event waitlist
Scan to share your feedback
Do not make claims the destination cannot fulfill. The label and landing page should match.
Test before printing
Test the code on iPhone and Android devices if possible. Try different camera angles, lighting conditions and distances. Verify the destination, analytics and any redirect rules. Print one proof at the intended size before ordering a large batch.
After launch, scan it periodically. Pages can be moved, domains can expire and permissions can change. A simple monthly check protects the customer experience.
Measure the result
A scan is an indication of interest, not automatically a sale. Connect scan data with meaningful outcomes such as form submissions, reservations or purchases. Compare codes by placement so you can see whether a window sign, receipt, table card or direct-mail piece performs better.
Use the result to improve the next version: clarify the call to action, move the code, simplify the landing page or change the offer. QR campaigns become valuable when measurement leads to a better customer experience.
