How to Create Branded Short Links

What makes a short link branded

A branded short link uses a custom domain or subdomain instead of the platform's standard domain. The alias after the slash identifies the destination or campaign. Together, the domain and alias create a compact address that can be recognized in email, social posts and printed material.

Choose the right domain

The domain should be short, readable and clearly connected to the business. Avoid misspellings that could look deceptive. Many organizations use a dedicated short domain or a subdomain such as go.example.com.

Keep the main website on its existing domain. A short domain is primarily a redirect and measurement tool, not a replacement for the main site.

Connect and verify

Add the custom domain in the link-management dashboard, then follow the displayed DNS instructions at the domain provider. DNS changes may take time to become visible. Enable HTTPS before sharing links so browsers can establish a secure connection.

Do not change unrelated DNS records. If email or the main website uses the same domain, an incorrect DNS edit can interrupt other services.

Create readable aliases

A useful alias describes the destination without exposing private information. Examples include /menu, /book, /fall-guide or /event-map. Keep it short enough to type and avoid random characters when memorability matters.

Do not reuse one alias for unrelated campaigns if historical reporting needs to remain clear.

Build trust in the message

Tell recipients why they should click. A branded domain helps recognition, but the surrounding message still needs context. Avoid urgent or misleading wording and never disguise a destination that users would not reasonably expect.

Maintain the links

Review branded links regularly. Confirm the domain renews automatically, HTTPS remains valid and destinations do not return errors. Remove unused team access and protect the domain registrar account with multi-factor authentication.

JujuBots supports branded domains on eligible plans. Once connected, use consistent campaign names and aliases so team members can understand the link library without opening every record.
